I saw some wrapping paper that has this holographic or some sort of odd effect as light refracts off the shapes in the paper. I’m sure it could be done with some effort, but has anyone ever done this? Specifically, I’m wondering if anyone has ever added a material that changes color as the angle the light hits changes. I tried to get a picture or two as an example. Thoughts?
Here’s one for ya…
(BTW, this is in Cycles.)
Layer weight facing output multiplied by fresnel (at a high value) is input into the factor socket of a color ramp. Throw that on a reflective or anisotropic shader node, and mix that with whatever else you want.
Alternately, geometry node vector outputs and perhaps the view vector output hooked to vector math with its value going to the factor socket of a color ramp yields interesting results too. It takes a bit of playing around with.
There’s probably a combo that’s mathematically correct (with a relationship between holographic surface angle and light source angle), but I don’t know it off-hand.
I like cycles I see what you’re. I’ll give this a try sometime soon. Thanks for the response!
Awesome! Thanks for these node set ups! I should be able to achieve what I want to accomplish with this. Thanks again!
