holy crap my computer is bogged down

Hey all,
Still fairly new to Blender, but I’m running into some problems with a very high poly count mesh.

I’ve created all these little branches with a few leaves on them, and I’ve been duplicating them like crazy. The branches were made from a bezier curve converted to a mesh. I know that’s my problem right there. In any case, my computer is getting bogged down (quad core i5 w/ 12GB RAM).

Is there anything I can do to this mesh to make it a little easier on my computer? There’s no way I can retopo now…maybe I should have thought of that before? I don’t know. Any hints that can help me now, or can be applied on future projects would be great.

Thanks!

What graphic’s card are you running and how many polys are we talking about here?

Thanks for that amazing resource, I’m going to try everything I can and let you know if things are any better! Also, I’m running a 21" iMac, and I think it’s got the NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M.

Hmm, helped a bit but not a whole lot. Once I create a single object from all the seperate tiny branch objects, everything goes back to normal and the computer doesn’t have any problems. Any ideas as to why that might be?

Somehow posted in the wrong thread. Excuse me.
