I’m submitting a head mesh of a Homo Erectus female, that I call Java Girl.
It’s modelled from a UV sphere, and I removed as many triangles as I could, replacing them with F-gons.
I’m doing this for a presentation on Neuroscience and Religion, and I thought people might be interested.
It looks like you don’t have enough edge loops. When you apply the subsurf it pulls the outer edges away. The face looks like it would look good if you fixed the edge problems.
Thanks! I’d just finished Mr. Bomb’s Face Modeling Tutorial for another project, and want to see what the difference was if I used a UV sphere.
I’ll probably have to start from scratch on this one, then.
On the good side, my sources were accurate. This head was modeled from accurate artist’s renderings. I tried to accent the features that make it quite different from a modern humans: small flat nose, large eyesockets, small to non-existent chin.
