Well, I’ve been workin’ on some character design lately and I have decided to start working on a new character who will have a cloak and hood. I am going to need to animate this hood, i will need any suggestions on how to do so, i’m very bad at animating. i gtg, i will post more later 215 verts…
Animating it flapping up and down a little, or him taking it on and off? Either way, you can easily control it with a few bones.
I was looking more as to animate him putting it up and down (on off) however you wanna call it. I really want the hood to look good, and i want to get better at making/modelling/animating them because if you look at midieval-based rpgs etc… they all have characters in them that wear hoods, whether it be an NPC or one of the main characters. I think it is a good skill to have, lol. aaannnyy ways… i was looking for more cnc on the accual mesh/model and how it looks. Thank you for your reply Turin.
When the hood is up, I think it should overhang much more of his forehead – if not his eyes.
That’s if you’re going for a mysterious mage/priest/monk look. This could work, but it looks more like a brawler who wants to stay dry.
i like it man , great …
texture it well , and outcomes a superb character …
This is for your assassin’s creed game right? Make the cloak go over his eyes to make him look like a assassin.
Hey thats a good hood
is it just the hood thats 215 verts? or is that the head too? I don’t know if you were gunna do this, but, like Turin said, you can just use really simple bones to animate the hood while he’s running. I had to that for tassels on a character in my game.
Well, I was working on it a lot this morning before school, and this is what I came up with… I lowered the top a bit to cover his forhead more  and I added a texture D=. It sucks. I can not make good textures. Truth is I really suck at modelling/animating/texturing, lol… I am good at problem solving though . Could someone point me in the direction of a cloth texturing tutorial? Thanks for all the feedback, more imgs in next post =D…

WunderLust , do you know that your work is amazing ?
.
Ok, so… here is more pics. Killer, I do not plan on using this exact model, This is going to be in an animation be4 teh game . I Decided to work with something bigger because I feel I will get more out of it, so far so good! And yes Sammaron only the hood has that many verts.(215) I did not make the dude in the back, I got him from teh Blender model repository, he is the male swimmer dude (thanks for pointing me in the right direction Itirx!) . 3D GURU, :o, appreciate it lots.
Attached are my concept imgs i drew at school (no i’m not one of those losers who sit there and draw all day  (sorry if i offended anyone, lol), i just had two study halls today that were both 2 hrs long and I got rly bored) Anyways, plz don’t dis meh drawings. When the hood is down, i plan on making it look like the one that the monk has on. In the one of the assassin, I plan on making a sash/belt thing like that. So while i wait for replies on how to do the cloth I am going to start on the belt thingy ;).

Whoops! Never mind.
Wut was that Red Hand? lol…
Still need more replies…
Wunderlust, hang in there, dont give up. You are doing a great job.
Read through this tutorial. You need to back up towards the front of the article, but this is a great, simple explanation for making clothing, cloth, how to paint the wrinkles, etc.
Those hoods cover the skin under the metal/leather armors and the mithril mail.
Set the planes around the bottom to ‘twosided’ while in uv face select so you cant see through them while in front view. It will look really good when you do that.
Nice work Wunderlust!
Your model looks great and the texture really brings it to life. The only criticism that I can give you is that the area around the eyebrows and the lower lips need a bit of work.
You’ve come a long way since you’ve joined the forums. Keep up the great work, I’ll be watching your progress = )
