Hey. I’ve been working with Carrara at work the last year or so, and while it got the job done, I have been finding more and more fault with the program (camera control is a beast. Many cameras lost in the infinite dark blue of the vertex modeler). A friend recently told me of Blender, and I have fallen in love with the program, although I am having some problems trying to do some of the same things I was able to do in Carrara, one of which being the ability to add a face to an object, say a box with an open side. In Carrara, I was able to select the polygon option and select vertices to snap the face/polygon on, but I am having problems getting the same thing done in Blender. If there is someone out there who knows how to do this, or even anybody who has used Carrara in the past and knows the Blender equivelent to certain tools, I would greatly appreciate it!!!
In edit mode, shift-select three or four vertices and press F for Face.
To make a face, select the 3 or 4 verts to comprise the face and hit F in edit mode.
If you want to snap a plain, to the non-face side of a box, then position the select all 4 verts of the box/empty face and then Mesh->Snap->cursor to selection.
Then select the mesh (cursor over mesh press L) and then Mesh->Snap->selection to cursor.
That should do it. Click for more options using Snapping tools.
Thanks alot!
