The rigged model it’s here
Tell me your opinions ![]()
Hi, the single movements are quite convincing but the entire animation taken together is way too choppy. Maybe try some other interpolation type between the individual movements.
Yeah this is the problem I have how to connect the spine movement with the legs movement
I’m not sure that’s the real problem. I’d say the relation between different bones is just fine. I think it’s really just that every individual bone movement comes to a stop before it continues.
Care to make a screenshot of your animation curves with the handles (in the graph editor), and post it here?
Ok I will post later thank you for help
From what I see you are a beginner in animation, so you should start by reading and viewing tutorials on how to animate, start with the bouncing ball, don’t rush things otherwise you’ll find it very difficult.
Oh man I hate the bouncing ball animation practicing
That’s definitely not the attitude to achieve anything, you need to look at it as a challenge, you need to be like: “This bouncing ball I am gonna beat the devil out of it” as Bob Ross says.
Believe me every animator starts blue not knowing what is what, but they work hard with flamboyant motivation, and the bouncing ball is what teaches you the base of all animation: Timing and Spacing.
Patience is a virtue of the winners
I know about timing and spacing but it’s different situation on a simple bouncing ball and let’s say in a horse animation , can you tell me what wrong with the timing and spacing of my horse walk?
As I said two weeks ago your bone movements are choppy and that is a problem with interpolation between individual steps of your animation. Look at your animation curves in the graph editor, change the handle type and smooth the curves.
Edit: You might not need to change the handle type, just play a bit with the Bezier curves if they are already there. I still think your basic model and rigging is fine.
Look for rigging iam the best
for animation I need work still ,but yeah I need time to finish
Thank you
Glad you like it
Iam plan to ad the xmuscle system so definitely I will update the walk cycle
It’s really rare that someone is equally great at all aspects of modeling. Most of the time people are kind of specialized in their abilities. However, there’s not much missing here to make this a cool and fluid animation
Thank you I will do it ,as I said iam planning to update with the xmuscle system addon so the final walk will be much polished and cool looking
It is a great thing you know about timing and spacing but your animation tells me that you still don’t know how do it, the bouncing ball isn’t something for beginners only even professionals do it from time to time to bring back their compass if they are lost, it teaches you how to analyze your animation and learn how to deal with technical issues.
animating quadrupeds is a complicated process you need not to burn the other steps, bouncing ball, two legged ball, ball with a tail, simple bipeds, etc…
Now I don’t know if you want to learn how to animate or you are just doing it to sell your product it’s up to you to choose your path.
And by the way people here should learn to criticize, flattery is a bad thing when not in place otherwise nobody is going to learn anything.
Thanks don’t get me wrong iam always open for criticism
I will practicing more on animation this is what I want to be better
This looks pretty nifty, i’d be interested in checking it out for myself.
As for your animation, i dont think its anything that cleaning up your animation curves cant fix.
So, I see that the front left leg is backing up too fast. It should have the same pace that the other front leg, in fact, it should have the same pace than the two back legs.
The stops contacts are too long stationary, they should not stop but keep moving once they hit the ground.
You have way too long stops, it should be a fluid motion. not more than one frame in the same place. (I assume the horse is really stationary and not moving forward in 3D space).
From the back view, it is clear that the weight is not shifting from side to side. The masses are going up and down but the hip and I guess the torso too are not moving from side to side to shift weight…
You can also check this great piece https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INQx-Lzs8mU
The only problem with that video is that it doesn’t address the front view, so there is not that much discussion on the shifting, but in the human walk part, there is. And, there is where the comments about don’t skipping the basis come. The thing with the ball, is really to master the timing, so you won’t have a doubt on why does the legs skip like they do right now. And if you do more human walk cycles, you will be able to see the side to side stuff easily. Master animators have a keen eye to catch all this kind of details, and it is developed by doing a LOT of exercises…
This video is really interesting on the way it discusses the bouncing ball exercise…
Keep animating! we are all in the same path.
Wish you the best!
Impressive commenting !!very informative! Thank you
