Hourglass


It’s been a good while since I worked on a 3d project ever since I took up programming so that I could make games. I felt pretty bad about going so long without creating any artwork. What held me back before was a slow computer but, now that I’ve upgraded, there’s no reason that I can’t make something fantastic. My goal with this was to come up with an idea and then turn it into a completed image with as much polish and shine as I possibly could. I’m pretty happy with it. It’s much better than I thought it would be and I’m excited to begin another piece. I hope you guys and gals enjoy it as much as I did making it!

2000 Samples with most post-processing done in Blender and a few things in Photoshop. It took about 2-3 days from start to finish.

One thing I don’t really get, why can’t you see the sand? It looks hard to see the sand in the hourglass, but isn’t the main idea for an hourglass to see the sand, so you know how much time has passed? Except for that, a very nice render!
