House on a hill (new render2)

hi
this is my 2nd try to architectural visualization, based on this sketch i found on the internet:

the trees in the background seem to be blurred?
also, the wavy texture on the leftmost and frontmost beam seems to extend beyond the beam…
the cement/gray stuff texture (not the beams) looks like wood to me.

but very nicely done :)!

thank you

the trees in the background seem to be blurred?
because of the dispersion, see below the original render.

also, the wavy texture on the leftmost and frontmost beam seems to extend beyond the beam…
didn’t understand the situation!

the cement/gray stuff texture (not the beams) looks like wood to me.
you mean the tiles!

here is the render without post processing:

new render, different but still not there:

love to see some critique

I politely disagree with your too-harsh self assessment. Although it does seem that the sky is too much blown-out white (a little fake-sky maybe cloudy-sky would do well here), the setting and the lighting is interesting, believable, and dramatic. I definitely like the fact that this most recent render has less of a blue cast (as of course it would, on a cloudy day).

The slight “black-hole mask” around the whole image helps to steer your eye back away from the bright upper-right corner of the frame and, as such, is a nice improvement. It also looks like there’s some defocus, sort of a sepia-tone feel, maybe a little increase in the overall contrast, and I think that all of these things are good additions, just as they would be for a photograph. Yes, a big part of any photo is the darkroom!

You can over-analyze anything … and, criticize it too hard, even though you’ll always be your own worst critic (and should be …). The purpose of architectural viz is to present a structure in a realistic and appealing light … but not a totally sterile one … and this does. Right now, it looks like a well-photographed image that has been favorably treated in the darkroom.

i’m trying to get an overall good scene vs realistic, this is why i put it in the focused critique section.

i also see many great scenes that over the web that are… you know -it makes you wanna cry- so i need to be harsh on myself.

and this does. Right now, it looks like a well-photographed image that has been favorably treated in the darkroom.
so, i didn’t under stand you think it is a sterile one, or a well-photographed image.

very unique…llooks like a ruin of a temple

I like the last render quite a bit - it’s got that weird semi-surrealistic, dramatic vibe to it :)…in fact the only thing that I’d change is the size of the leaves on the left in those beech-like trees. They just seem too big in comparison with everything else to me…

ahh okay so the dispersion was causing the blur, thanks for explaining!
i really like the rays of sunlight on the second render

They just seem too big in comparison with everything else
true, i’ll fix it -iAw-

new update, new flavor, high-res -would give better details-

appreciate any feedback

sorry, but thats too much light! all the nice wavy texture on the beams got washed out! i see you are using a different background though, and i like it more.

sorry, but thats too much light! all the nice wavy texture on the beams got washed out!
i’ll try fix it -iAw-, thank you

Ease up on the chromatic aberation! It looks a little out of place.

Ease up on the chromatic aberation! It looks a little out of place.
you mean dispersion,i only used 0.02 is that much?
but i got a new critique, thank you.

well this is as far is it gets, no more critique means that either it is finished or not interesting enough, thank you all.

Looks nice but provide higher res please!

don’t use that much chrom aberration, and to make the bloom effect in compositor, use fog glow instead of streaks

higher res
i thought 1600*1600 was big enough, anyway if you wanna bigger tell me how much and i’ll put it to render at night - iAw -

don’t use that much chrom aberration
i didn’t use much only 0.02!

use fog glow instead of streaks
i know it is better with it, but i liked the bleed that the streaks make, no?

anyway her is one without dispersion, with fog:

keep critiques coming, i’ll only get tired when you are

Yes! Thanks the new one is better (I checked old ones only as full size). Now there are some necessary stuff like the concrete wall that is way too far from the building. Looks cool, but there’s things to fix.
