How can I achieve this shape using subdivision?

Hello!
In Modo this shape is achieved when subdividing a cube. I would like to achieve this shape with subdivision in Blender. How to do that?
Thank you!
Subdivision

Hi.
What do you mean exactly? To be able to visualize edges of original cube?

I want to model a character’s head using the first shape I posted. Then I add two loops, one would be in the middle and horizontal and one vertical and would be through the entire thing. Then I would extrude the two front polygons at the bottom…

Could you upload a video or detailed screenshots of what you want to achieve when you use Modo?

If this question is as straightforward as it appears:

With the cube selected in object mode, press CTRL-1, CTRL-2, or CTRL-3 depending on how much subdivision you need. After it adds the modifier, you can play around with how many subdivisions look right for your tutorial. Apply the modifier, then start with your modelling in edit mode.

First image is before extrusion. Second one is the side view after extrusion, and the third one is the front view after extrusion

OK, to get that shape from a cube:

  1. Edit Mode → select all faces → right click menu → Subdivide. In minimized operator menu (bottom left corner), put “Smoothness=1"

  2. Add modifier Subdivision… maybe 3? Can always change it

  3. Edit Mode → Select those bottom faces → Extrude Z (amount)

edited to reflect @YAFU suggestion making it better

Hi
What is the purpose of step 2?

Just add to your explanation that must activate the “triangle” icon (on cage) for Subdivision Surf modifier to work as in screenshots.

When I didn’t use Cast, it wouldn’t give me the right shape, it constricted it into a more cubelike form. It’s possible I did something in the wrong order, but to get the once-subdivided cube to look like it does in these images, that’s what worked for me.

Ah, in step 1 when you subdivide a minimized operator menu appears (bottom left corner), there you can put “Smoothness=1”
