well im new to blender and i been working on a simple sword model

how can i get the blade abit like a mirror

If you don’t want to do environmental mapping you could always use raytraced mirror with a noise texture. Here’s a link on ray-traced mirror/transparency: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/PartIII/Reflections_and_Transparencies
Note: if you do ray-traced mirror you have to make sure that something other than the sky is being reflected or you will not see any results. Good luck.
