How can I keep my corners sharp after applying a subdivision surface?

I’m making terrain. I create a plane, subdivide and sculpt. When I’m finished, I make sure, to keep a clean flat border around the object. Then I apply a subdivision surface on the entire object and it rounds each corner. Is there a way to keep the corners sharp when applying a subdivision surface?
