how can i syncronize folders between 2 computers

hello,
can anyone here recommend a program that can syncronize folders between two different computers for Windows OS? i always work off my server when i’m at home, and when i’m on the road i work off my local hard drive. when i get home i’d like to be able to syncronize the project i’m working on.

i’ve found:
Allway_Sync
SyncBack
syncbackse
viceversa
filesync
anyone use any of these?

thanks,

You can use MS Briefcase which is included with XP
The following is copied from F1 Help “Briefcase”

To create a new Briefcase
To open My Computer, double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.

  • Click the folder in which you want to create the new Briefcase.

  • On the File menu, point to New, and then click Briefcase.Note

  • To create a new Briefcase on your desktop, right-click anywhere on the desktop, click New, and then click BriefcaseTo synchronize files on connected computers using Briefcase
While the computers are connected, open Briefcase on your portable computer and copy the appropriate files from your main computer.

  • Work on the files on your portable computer.

  • When you have finished working on the files, connect the two computers if they were disconnected, open Briefcase on your portable computer, and then do one of the following:

  • To update all the files, on the Briefcase menu, click Update All.

  • To update only some of the files, select the files you want to update, and then on the Briefcase menu, click Update Selection.
When you are using Briefcase to copy files from your main computer to your portable computer, the two computers must be connected, either over a network or by a [direct cable connection](http://blenderartists.org/forum/ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\brief.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp TOPIC=gls_direct_cable_connection)

  • While you are working on your files, the two computers do not need to be connected.[](http://blenderartists.org/forum/ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\brief.chm::/CHM=brief.chm META=a_bfc_split_file;a_bfc_overview;a_bfc_create_new)

SSH and rsync. A quick search will show you how.

Arrrgh - Don’t use briefcase - 'Nuff said!

I use AlwaySynch to keep my files synched between my work and home PC via memory stick. It’s got a function to synch at log in, at log out and if you want every x minutes as well as synch when device connects. It’s pretty versatile.

I use treecomp.

Rsync can be used without SSH, no? There’s a build for windows, too, and apparently there’s a possibility to sync between a linux and windows boxen. I only forgot where to get it (and how to use it, it’s been some time … ).

What about Microsofts Synctoy? Anyone check that out yet?

Have you tried Subversion??

Windows Client available here, it allows creation of repositories
http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/

It will do just what you want, with the added feature of version control so you can jump back to various stages in development/design.

You could setup a repository on a usb stick, and use working copies on both machines.

I have not used it with blender, but when I get some big projects I am sure it will save some headaches.
