How can I take a screenshot of a large model of my work place?

Hello blenderartists community! Thank you for taking the time to look at my question.

I’ve drawn a 1-to-1 scale model of my warehouse, it’s about 100,000 sq ft or 21(22x22(3’x3’) on the “solid view” grid.

I want to take some pictures of it and print it out for a visual reference, but I am having issues getting quality screenshots; since it’s such a large model. The render camera doesn’t look great because I didn’t texture anything, and it was difficult for me to fit the entire layout in 1 render shot.

The solid view with the grid as the floor looks really cool, but taking screenshots with Windows built-in snip-it tool doesn’t seem to be doing the model justice. It’s blurry since the view needs to be so zoomed out to encumber the entire shot.

I was wondering if you have any tools or tips to take a screenshot in solid view for a large-scale model.

In the view menu – “view-port render image” will render an image of everything you see in view-port. The resolution of the image depends on the resolution set in the output properties tab, not limited by your screen resolution.

You can use the overlays options to hide (or show) the overlays you want in the render.

It does not work for Cycles render view.

If you do what @DNorman suggested - also set the % of the render higher - like 300% in this image. Or higher…

Percent

It is easier to set that back to 100% than to set X and Y Resolution back to whatever you have them on.

… And welcome to the forums.

I set the render to 500%, it’s almost perfect but just slightly goes out of focus when i zoom out to the full distance

Almost any app will do that. Its crushing the data together to make the image fit.
You may have better luck going slightly smaller.
Lol - or ask the boss to budget a new 4K screen for you.

Well it would, your monitor can only approximate images with resolutions higher than it has, but it should print out well.

As said, there’s only so much data a screen can show. If you can get your hands on an 8K monitor, that’ll probably work best. Maybe a post in Volunteer Work could find someone with one who would take a screenshot for you?
