How can I unlink an Armature from a mesh?


I realised I had not connected some object pieces to an existing character, after I had began setting up a skeleton animation. For me to get the mesh together, I need to unlink the armature from the mesh, just how do I do that?

I read the Game development book, nothing on it, as Blender for Dummies, nothing on that either. I at least had a quick skim read. It is pretty basic on animation, and the usual parent. I may be wrong.

Clear all rig controls, Alt- G, R, and S (Pose mode). Select the mesh(s) ALT P, Clear Parent. You may need to ALT P, Clear Parent Keep Transforms if you have unapplied locations, rotations and scales on the mesh(s).
