Hi guys
I’m quit new in blender, I want to use it for modelling the mechanical design of my project. I’ve seen in 3D Max it’s possible to have an image, then you put it as background, click for sharp points of the image, then you can have a 3D version of the image that you marked. As I’ve no experience with blender, this functionality can make my life easier. So, if it’s also possible on blender could you please explain for me how can I achieve that. Please also specify the direction in details,or if there is a tutorial for this I would be grateful if you could give the link.
Thanks for your attention
Kind Regards
If I understand what you want . Do you want to make a portion of a 2d picture look 3d. you can do this but I think maybe it will take more then 1 tutorial but maybe someone knows a easy way to do it, and a better way.
The only thing I can think of , Is making a flat mesh the shape of your object , uv unwrapping , scaling to the size of picture/texture . then turning on the normal map a little. but maybe there is a better way.
With Blender Version 2.49, in 3D window, Object Mode, select menu View / Background Image. Dialog box will come up so that you can locate the file and load it. Here is good tutorial.
