How come that an edge's length changes when I rotate it?

I find this quite strange. Try it for yourself; insert an edge, select metric in the scene panel, pull out the ‘N’-panel and select edge length under mesh display when in edit mode. Now rotate the edge.

Can anyone at least explain this. I’d love it if you could solve this for me, it’s rather annoying when working on architecture.

Cheers in advance!

You’ll have to give a demo as unless I’m not following you i don’t see any unusual behaviour when rotating an edge.

it’s working fine with a cube for instance in 2.56

don’t see where you see this problem upload a sample file may be !

happy 2.5

Even more strangely everything works again after restarting blender, guess we’ll never know what it was. I feel useless. :o

Thanks for the reply, anyhow!

I had something quite odd today, when scaling 2 edges it was scaling to one side.
I changed Pivot Ponit to Median Ponit and that fixed my problem, guess this could be the problem on roating aswell. Hope it helps.
