how do i add a sketch in the "background" of a vie

ok, i’m more then 100% sure this has already been answered on the forums, but i just didn’t find it.

so that’s what i want, and i know it can be done - i’ve read it recently in a topic, which i forgot its name. :expressionless: i have a sketch (jpeg scan) of a character i want to try to model. so i want to use that sketch as a “background” of a view in blender, so i can add material on it …i hope you get the idea …it’s a pretty common thing, from what i’ve seen …i just don’t know how :frowning:

go to the mysterious buttons window and press ‘load background image’.

where’s the “mysterious buttons window”? :expressionless: …i’m soooo lost

there is a row of vertical buttons on the left hand side of the screen. I think its the top button. The buttons screen is relatively empty compared to other screens, so it isn’t called the buttons window because it’s full of buttons.

Shift-F7

%<

back with Shift+F5

thanks

sorry, Modron, but i don’t see ANY vertical buttons anywhere :frowning: …well, as long as the shift+f7 and shift+f5 work, i’m ok  …thanks anyway

you have to click the button that looks like a grid on the far left to get the verticle buttons.

mind sharing why these combos don’t work in 2.30? …and what’s NOW the keycombo (or button) for it?

These combos don’t work with 2.30 because they were so weird
that all newbies were asking repeadetly ‘how can I add a image background…’

So

go to the header of the 3D Viewport, View Menu, Background Pic entry

MUCH easier
