Hi,
I have a stl file of teeth with braces attached to them and would like to create a tray over them that would hold the braces in place like in the image below:
I would take the stl, separate the surfaces where you expect the tray to be in contact with the teeth/braces, then use the offset modifier to add a tiny bit of wiggle room so you don’t have to pound it in place. once you have the offset surface dialed in, you can add a solidify modifier to give it some thickness. then apply all modifiers, and clean up the mesh to prep for 3d printing.
Hi Sterling,
If it’s not too much to ask, can you give the stl file a look and show me how you would work through creating the tray? I am stranded using the modifiers.
You can remesh the whole thing, expand it a bit and then use a boolean modifier to cut with a base line mesh (one that would cut the gum areas up). You can take a look at the sculpt branch for better remeshing tools.
