How do I get or install python 2.5 or the most current?

When I start Blender I get this message.
"Compiled with Python version 2.5. ‘import site’ failed; use -v for traceback
checking for installed python…no installed python found.
only built in modules are available. Some scripts may not run
continuing happily

Does anyone know how to load or install python 2.5 if it is the latest version? Thank you!

Welcome to the forums!

Although, you shouldn’t need it for the scripts that ship with Blender.

Hi, I tried these links, but they don’t address the specific problem: When I start Blender I get this message. “Compiled with Python version 2.4. ‘import site’ failed; use -v for traceback” That’s the problem I’m having with Blender 2.44 when I start it, and no Python is found, nor does it say ‘continung happily’. I have Blender 2.45 on the same machine, with the latest version of python and that works fine. I have 2.44 installed because I heard that some scripts for ASE import /export don’t work with the latest version of Blender. I’ve gone to my ‘Paths’ options, and set the path to the Blender 2.44 scripts folder as well as the 2.45 scripts folder and restarting Blender 2.44, but I get no difference. Any advice? I couldn’t find Blender-specific info on the site either. Thanks.

I believe Blender is looking specifically for Python 2.4x, not 2.5. You should be able to have both versions of Python installed without any problems.

Edit - according to , the script now works with 2.45 - although I have not actually tried it.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for your help.

On windows I had to add an environment variable and add it to my path. instructions should be on the python site. Then Blender can find it.
