Hello all,
I have been working on this head and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on making it look more realistic. There are no eyebrows, eyelashes, or hair yet(particles most likely). And please, if you state something that could be improved please give me some ideas on how that improvement can be made. Also, I can’t ever seem to get the specularity/reflections of the eye to look real. Thanks.
Realistic?
There should be the same distance from the top of the head to the eyes… and from the eyes to bottom of chin. The distance between the two eyes should be the exact width of one eye.
Is it a man or a woman?
Cause he/she looks very soft.
Maybe you should take a picture of yourself and use it as extra reference. What works better is looking to your face in the mirror(with enough light, like on the bathroom).
Reflections from the eyeball. The reflection from the cornea is usually small and bright: increase the hardness, the spec looks ok, but may need some tweaking at the end. The “reflection” from the iris, the catchlight, is soft and spread out. Reduce the hardness, and make the bowl of the iris shallower. The catchlight is not like an ordinary highlight, its more a generalzed glow on the side of the iris opposite the actual highlight.
The ear is flat against the skull. It should be moved away from the skull in back. The helix and antihelix form a cup that funnels sound into the ear canal.
Mouth looks a bit wide but that could be due to the camera angle and distance.
