How do I import a model into a scene?

I am modeling a fish and I need to import a eye that I made into the blender file I am on, how do I do this?

SHIFT - F1

It lets you browse within a .blend file and take what you need.

Also, I think, once you have selected the file from the file menu, you have to load it from the browse button in the edit buttons, correct?
