How do I maintain a continuous loop after extruding sides of a mesh circle of boot

I’m doing a tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0dBixiROWM He extrudes two sides from a circle to form part of the model’s boot. He later extrudes the outside loop and scales in. But he doesn’t show that the continuous loop was maintained. Later, he adds a subsurf, then uses Ctr. R to add a loop cut to tighten up the edge. That’s when I noticed he has one continuous loop. I can’t do that with ctr R. I can only select sections of the loop. Can someone tell me how I can maintain a continuous loop after extruding the two sides of the circle as shown in the tutorial?

This is from the tutorial:

This is my mesh. I don’t have a continuous loop like he has in the tutorial. Shown without extruding and scaling in.

What time code of the video ?

In your second screenshot you are not doing what the video shows. You need to select all the vertices around the bottom of the model before you extrude so you maintain the continuous edge

Here’s the previous video where he creates the part of the boot I’m talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBbam0Op7-4 At At 2:12 into that part of the tutorial he selects the sides and extrudes.

The loop is created after he has selected all the vertices at the bottom and extruded them.

Thanks. My problem was I wasn’t putting the loop cut after the extrusion. I got it now.
