How do I make this light-grey effect?

Hello!

I’ve seen a lot of very nice and high-quality pictures and movies made with Blender, and I’ve made wondered how to make this. Here’s a picture of what I mean,

I like the Light grey look on the boxes and items. Is there any way to do this, or is it textures and lighting in some way?

Any help is appreciated.

You can try to use Ambient Occlusion. If you go into the “World Buttons” menu (Shading button (F5), then the button that looks like Earth), you’ll see a tab named “Ambient Occ”. Go in there, click the button, and try a render. The higher number of samples you use, the less grainy the render will be. I usually put it at 10 for a good render.

Once you do that, you can add a plane under the model you’re trying to render, and give everything the same white/gray material. That should do it, I think.

[Edit: Past that, you might have to play with the lighting. I’m not so great with lighting yet, so maybe someone else can give some better instructions]

Thanks for the tip!

It seems to do what I’m looking for slightly but not completely. But it does help a lot, thanks.

In addition to what JasonBob45 suggested, you could also remove any lamps from the scene (or turn off its specularity) and play with Distances in the Ambient Occlusion settings

Thanks for the help, with your suggestions I’ve managed to create this, I think the problem I had was the lamp after I applied the occulusion. I was using a lamp, I changed it to a hemi and it looks great.
