I have been trying to model this handle for the past few days.
I have asked questions on other forum sites and I have not gotten answers that I am looking for.
I don’t understand how to extrude the cylinder part that goes up to the hand guard because it’s an infinite spiral.
I have linked videos of my attempts in the polycount thread. I cannot link them here because I am a new user to blenderartists.
This is for a college assignment, and my file for it already got corrupted, so I’m in a bit of a rush to try to figure this out.
Please help!!

I would use the bolt factory extension. You can get a bolt/screw without a head, and refine it as needed. Then subsurface it, and shade auto-smooth

As i now mentioned in the PC-thread: you started quite good but you didn’t modeled the profile to the end but only the “outer edge”…

The bolt factory seem to have not the needed options to change theneeded angles… especially there seems to be only one threadcounts (or whatever this might be called) and this hilt has two or three at the same time ? Only the pitch seeem to doget the proper “skewness”… but then
…also the spaces between the other edge of the threads deform to some unwanted shape.
This hilt also seems to have a more specific profile:

Screw modifiers may be a good start.
It looks good as a way to create the basic shape, with the option to make it with a screw section and adjustable.

Yes… this was used “by some users” over PolygonCount… ( including the OP and me )

Oh, that’s much simpler than what I was thinking
For the angle thing, it looks like you need to play with three things to adjust the angle (Pitch, Crest Percent, and Root Percent)
You can just model the crosscut shape, extrude it, subdivide the area, and then with proportional editing on and falloff type set to linear rotate it 360 degrees, so that the starting point just stays still. Here’s an example video (I made a mistake with one of the shape placements, just ignore it ):

That isn’t what I was stuck on, but thank you anyway. I got it figured out thanks to FrankPolygon at polycount.
