I like to matchmove, but in cycles there is no shadows only button. how can I render only the shadows and not the plane in cycles, without using nodes? Im using blender 2.67b.
In the scene tab, you can select in the passes “shadow”.
And by using several layers, you can obtain a pass with only the shadow of your object.
But you’ll have to select it in the node editor.
Moved from “Technical Support” to “Lighting and Rendering”
I’ve gotten around this in the past by making a duplicate scene that renders a shadow-only material using Blender Internal… then I composite that scene’s render layer with my cycles scene. It’s a hack, but it works in a pinch.
I keep coming back to this problem and wondering, wouldn’t this be a much smaller issue if rays hitting the background on the shadow pass just returned one instead of 0?
