I can’t find the settings for gravity when I am in cycles renderer.
I want something to drop down, which I am sure is an easy task for Blender, I’m just not able to find the settings
and somehow I only find tutorials that explain it in the game engine, but I don’t want to create a game, just an animation.
Your help is very appreciated.
Thx in advance…

There may be other ways, but Soft Bodies are easy and will fall, bounce, collide etc., and they don’t necessarily have to be soft. However, to get them to fall, you must un-check the “Soft Body Goal” box.
Create what ever you want to fall and the floor. Go into Blender Game mode and in the physics tab set the properties of the things you want to fall as a ridged body. Then set the properties of the floor as a static.
Under the game menu select “record animation”.
then press P
Get out of Blender game mode and back into Cycles or BI, and your object will be keyframed for gravity. Oh, if you want it to bounce when it hits the floor you do that in the material in the BI, but I am not sure where in Cycles. So I would create a simple material in BI with elasticity, press P, record the animation, then after your object is key framed switch back to cycles for the render.
Thx,
I’ll have a try with both solutions and see what is the fastes way for me.
Somehow confusing that you have to go these ways.
Now I’ll have to use all engines in blender.
Internal for smoke, cycles for photoreality and gameengine for physics.
I’m really loosing the overview.
Thx again to both of you.
I believe a future version (current graphical version?) has the bullet physics outside of the game engine. But don’t quote me on that…
place57 just mentioned it…you can get the bullet integration build for Win64 here http://graphicall.org/windows/blender/64bit?keywords=51388
Other formats can be found on graphicall.org.
The link above also shows Sergej Reich’s excellent video tutorials on how to use it. Simple and straightforward stuff that will help you do what you wanna achieve as far as gravity simulation.

You can also create a single-particle particle system. Use the Object or Group display mode and choose the object you want to fall. Set the Normal velocity to 0.0 and the default gravity will cause the particle/your object to fall. Move the particle system emitter to the place where you want the object to appear before falling.
3d gravity can be done by using -a negative Force with a falloff of 2, for space scenes etc, you have to turn off normal grav though, or disable it using force field settings
I never thought of doing that. Good tip!!!
