I’m not sure if thats the right term, but I’ve been happilly hitting “u” and calculating UVs and sticking them all over my model but I now want to remove them all as though I’d never hit U in the first place. How do I do this?
(reason being, I was trying to use 4 images to map to the model and blend them together, but I think I could do the whole model with only 1 image)
Thanks for the help! I want this so I can start again on UV texturing the model because I made a real mess of it. I never would have thought of looking there for that button…
Also, you could have just remapped the uv mapping back to defaults.
Initially when you first create a uv mapping, blender just does the Standard 1/1 mapping. If you wanted this back, simply go into face mode (FKEY) on your model, select all the faces, press UKEY to bring up the automatic uv mapping modes and select Standard 1/1.
To get all of the faces on the same image, you’ll have to do a little bit more. This confused me for awhile when I first started using blender, so I’ll briefly explain it.
In one window, select your model and get into Face mode (FKEY). In another window change it to a UV/Image Editor window. Select all the faces (I normally press TABKEY to get into edit mode and then select all the vertices, then tab back to face mode), SHIFT-RightClick a face twice. The first SHIFT-RightClick will deselect the face, but will make it active. The second reselects it and it willo remain active.
The image displayed in the UV/Image Editor window is for the active face. If you have an active face and the image in the UV/Image Editor window is the image for that face, selecting another image will change the imade for all faces selected.
Not having an active face or having an active face, but not having the image for that face in the UV/Image Editor window will give you strange results when you try to select a replacement image.
Also, don’t forget about rotating your uv mapping if necessary. With one or more faces selected, press the RKEY to bring up the uv rotation menu. Rotating the texture 4 times will rotate it completely in a circle allowing you to pick the best orientation for the texture.
