How do I upload an image onto a post?

Pretty dumb question but how do you upload an image from your desktop (I imagine you can do so). The upload button just results in a bunch of characters that don’t do anything.
Thanks

You should just be able to drag the image into your post text box

That’s Markdown syntax. If you look at the preview pane (it should be to the right of your text entry box), you should see your uploaded image.

Little tip:
If you are using Windows there is this very nice open source tool called ‘ShareX’ it replaces your screenshot button / tool in windows allows to capture all kinds of screenshots and videos / gifs,… but best of all also upload the image straight to a image hoster, ftp etc.

When I activate it using Ctrl + Print screen I get this neat interface (again everything has a shortcut!)

And you can do all kinds of stuff or just capture screen gif’s, mp4’s,…

As for uploading personally I use Flickr as an primary image host for quick uploads which you can configure in ShareX as your upload host.

Flickr used to have this policy where they don’t delete your photos - most other free image hosts do delete your images when they feel like it.

All captured screenshots show up in a list and can be uploaded with a right click or a shortcut

I wrote a similar tool myself in the past using Adobe AIR but Share X is a rare piece of software that I fell immediately in love with.

Thanks for the help! I’ll definitely give ShareX shot

Ah, just realised that it’s been blocked by text boxes giving me ‘tips’. Thanks alot!

ShareX needs the latest version of .NET framework; I hoped that it would be easier.
