ok so i have a game storyline written out, I got so far… so good but now i need help

i have this char who turns into a wolf… (main char)
i made the char obviously and i made the wolf how can i have so that when i press akey he turns into the wolf then i can move the same way…

Well you can make it like this example :

Say if you press space bar it will turn into a wolf so just make it replace the mesh and if you want it to create like a puff of smoke when your transforming just make animated smoke parented to your camera execpt invisible alway’s but make the smoke’s logic brick’s so when you hit space bar it will turn visible ect… and the will make a puff of smoke while your transforming :wink: If this is confusing to you I can make a .blend file so you can learn from it ? any ways I will get right to the blend :wink:

Looks like you need to read up on logic bricks. Check the tutorial sticky on the top of this forum for some good examples. You should understand what Death is talking about better after understanding logic bricks.
A character that turns into a wolf…sounds like Link in Twightlight Princess.

Well this is just a thought, perhaps could model the main features seperate, Parent them to empty then use the IPO play make it morph into a wolf while at the same time using the alpha ipo to fade out the texture while the other one fades in.

Perhaps that would be a little much, but it’s the only way I could think of.

Ofcorse you could morph the model with pose and use ipo play to make it morph then if you have to use the replace to switch the morph model with the wolf model.

Not sure if it will work anyone can back me up on this ?

This might not be your style, but here’s what I would do.

Have a plane in front of the camera that is always there (tracking to the camera), then make it invisible unless you press the man to wolf (or vice versa) button. Then make and render an animation of the man turning into the wolf, then make that play on the plane when it is visible. You could do it the way Link changes in Majora’s mask, where the animation plays then gameplay resumes. So your animation could be as simple or complex as you want. Then you COULD have a puff of particle smoke.

Oh wait… Will animated textures work on the Blender GE yet?

Ofcorse, Animated textures %| You can change textures that way, wish I had thought of that.
