How do you get rid of the direction lines on planes?

When working with planes you know how there is the line that comes off of it showing the direction the face is facing? How do you turn those off and on. I understand their value, but the extra lines are making things a little cluttered.

In the Edit Buttons window (F9), turn off the Draw Normal function (at the right of the screen).
