The easiest way to do this is to position all the letters out of the camera view. Then put in a keyframe 1 frame before the first letter, then move the letter into position for the next frame. Then make a keyframe 1 frame before you want to move the second letter, then move that and key it in on the next frame. Then just repeat. If you need an example I can build one up for you.
