How do you make an Opal Stone texture?

Hello, I’m a rookie at blender so i was following a Tutorial on making a Photo Realistic Ring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqhi8q4EGZk And i wanted to change the texure of the Turqoise

to an Opal Texture such as these stones.

I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions on how to achieve this effect!! Keep in mind im a rookie so a picture of your nodes texture or a copy of your blender file would be most helpful!

There have been several attempts on such material (opal, iridescence) if you search forum.
Map an image?

Hi, i’m just using Blender for hobby purpose and i’m not a professional artist, but i like it very much to render gemstones and similar stuff.

So i found this thread and followed along several tutorials to end up with this result of my attempt to imitate an opal material.

However, i’m very unhappy with the “in motion” behavior of this material, cause i miss some kind of volumetric effect of the colors inside the object. I just have no idea how to fix that.

Maybe my results are still usefull for somebody to enhance it. :slight_smile:
