How do you make textures from different parts model go together well?

Hey guys, quick question about texturing here.


I have this cat model here, and the legs are separate from the body in order to give a better unwrap. The problem is, they don’t link up very well with the body, as shown above. I can painstakingly tweak the image file in my editor to get it looking better, but is there another way?

This problem is especially bad when the texture for one part is more detailed than the part it is connected to. The face of the cat was very detailed, but the rest of the head wasn’t as much detailed, so you can clearly see where one texture ends and another begins. How do I fix this?
