How do you pronounce Elysiun?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering how you pronounce:

Elysiun
Subsurfs
Supercalifragilisticexpelidocious

Okay, okay, only Elysiun.

I believe it is pronounced: El-e-s-e-un

I pronounce it (in my head) “el is see’ un” rather than “el ee’ see un”.

Imp

well I always pronounce it:

E li si un

If anyobody has the movie the gladiator, you can here the lead actor say elysium (pronounced the same) right before the first battle (if I’m not mistaking).

that’s right kib. something like: “and if you find yoursef walking in endless fields do not worry, for you are walking in the fields of elysiun
and you’re already dead!” i don’t know if i have that exactly right, haven’t seen the movie lately and have only memory to go by.

Just in case you are interested and since Elysiun stands for “Elysiun fields” the Greek “Paradise for Heroes” we pronounce it like this:

I-li-ssia Pe-thi-a (meaning Elysiun Fields
)

bye

it is pronounced almost like illusion

el-ooooo—shi-un

el-y-siun

what does it mean? :-?

I don’t get out much

There is one word in Finnish I want to teach you guys:

epÀjÀrjestelmÀllisyyttÀmÀttömyydellÀÀnsÀköhÀnkin

:stuck_out_tongue:

i pity the finnish

lets get some mp3’s up here!

Oh, you don’t have to. I gave you a wrong word, the right one is:
“epĂ€jĂ€rjestelmĂ€llistyttĂ€mĂ€ttömyydellĂ€nsĂ€kÀÀn”

More in:

el eeeeee seeeee un.

what does it mean?

I don’t get out much

i think it is like bliss or something. Or greek heaven.

If anyobody has the movie the gladiator, you can here the lead actor say elysium (pronounced the same) right before the first battle (if I’m not mistaking).

Oh come on, kib. don’t you know the main actor of gladiator’s name?! Its tom cruise
 no wait arnold shwartzenager
or is it george bush? I remember!!! It’s Ruffled Crow. :-? :o The guy with a beautiful brain.

Elysiun always makes me think of the Megadeth song “Elysiun Fields”.
So I pronounce it the same way Dave Mustaine does in the song, el-ee-shun

sort-of

Ok
let’s spice up the debate a bit more
why is the ‘y’ capitalized in elYsiun? Is it just to match the black/orange graphic, or another reason?

Imp

it’s because elYsiun looks so much cooler than elysiun or Elysiun, so basicly it was just a design choise we made when we created the first elYsiun logo. And ofcourse the same aspect got trough in the 2nd logo.

You can see the old logo here btw:

and
https://blenderartists.org/designs/elysiun_1/
and

and

Hoorah!!

Watching TV last night and UK TV cook Rick Stein mentioned Elysiun fields and he pronounced it El-iss-ee-un

To the question “how do you pronounce elYsiun?” I answer:

I donÂŽt. I just hope that noone will ask me how I pronounce it :o .

I gave you a wrong word, the right one is: “epĂ€jĂ€rjestelmĂ€llistyttĂ€mĂ€ttömyydellĂ€nsĂ€kÀÀn”

jÀrjestelmÀllistÀmÀttömyydellÀÀnsÀkÀÀnköhÀn is tied with epÀjÀrjestelmÀllistyttÀmÀttömyydellÀnsÀkÀÀn for the longest Finnish word actually.

Well, check this out. I live in Hawaii, and this is the name of the state fish:

Humuhumu-nukunuku-a-pua’a

Hehe
the common name is longer and tougher to pronounce than the genus-species scientific name, Rhinecanthus rectangulus.
