I have many scans of brushstrokes on paper. Each layer has some brushstrokes. I want to load 20+ layers of brushstrokes and view them in 3d. like moving right or left. the top layer moves right or left more than the bottom layer. I don’t know the term of keywords. I don’t know what this technique is called. I would rather have a simple program to do this. I don’t know where to start. can you help me do this?
The term you are looking for is “parallax” which Disney used in early animation with the ‘multi-plane’ camera system. You can load your brushstroke images as planes in Blender in Front/Back View and then arrange them in the ‘top’ view to be in stacked ‘Layers’ going ‘back’ into the scene. You can further arrange them from the Front/Back view to match your visual expectation. Then, when you “Pan” your Camera back and forth in front of the stacked view plane, you will get the “Parallax” effect that you are expecting, depending on how deep you have placed the brushstrokes. Not quite like Layers in photo programs, but similar effect. You can also move the planes manually and keyframe the movement, but then it is more of a judgement by you regarding the effect you want. Give it a try.
thanks for that keyword, parallax. I looked it up. seems most of the Google search gave me links to effects for websites. It’s been a long time since I used blender. I did make things like machines, posing animations, using art in mapping. I forgot everything in blender. I would like to try this before I relearn blender. I think my art idea could go viral. Perhaps I could add credits to the blender designer on the art , whoever would like to help me build such image. There would be 4-5 layers of cyan brushstrokes, each being multiplied on top of another. light to dark. also layers for magenta and another set of layers for yellow and Black’s. CMYK in transparents. It should look photographic and brushstrokes would be in 3d. it can be stereovision. it can animate in circular pattern as in gif. or made for vr or a plain jpg image. Or 10-20 layers of solid colors I’d like to try this if anyone wants to build my project for me. I’d like to test it out and see where goes. I was shocked to see blockchain art in animation. it was new to me. I’m an old school artist but my former creative director told me to look for new things. things that are in the now
As soon as you suggest the idea of “Layers” interacting with underlying Layers, this is not something that 3D programs do natively, but would need be done in the Compositor aspect of Blender with rendered layers. This is something that photo editors do, but can also be done in animation tools and web tools, so you need to ‘re-think’ your concept and tool set. Best to you.
