Place your 3d cursor under or above your mesh and hit ‘To Sphere’ in in the mesh tools in edit mode. Or use ‘Warp’ Shft-W in edit mode. Or use Modrons tricks with proportional editing.
‘I have a flat mesh in the shape of ann xy plane rectangle with proportions 2:1 and with a varying z which is an height map I made using the noise function and I want to wrap it onta a perfect sphere.’
You can try WARP but it will be tricky to get it work properly.
