I have an annoying problem: every time I press numpad 3 to go to side view, Blender throws me off from my model and I have to scroll the viewport to find it again.
So my question is this: how does Blender decide what part of the 3d viewport it should show when I go to a straigtht view (like front, top, left, right)? Is there any way to avoid having to constantly scroll to locate my mesh if I’m not modeling it in the center of the 3d world?
Basically it tries to keep whatever is in the center of the view in the center. It can’t quite always keep track so sometimes you have to help it by selecting whatever you’re working on and pressing numpad period.
This had annoyed me for some time also. IMO it would make more sense if Blender centered the the view on the current selection, similar to the “Rotate Around Selection” option. In fact, having an option for this would be best, eh?
