I just got to thinking, how many people are actually out there that are good at using blender, or just know 3d animation in genaral. It seems that i dont meet any one in person that is good at 3d animation. Well do you have any idea how many people is out there.:no:
less than a million, which means that there is still room for you.
room for me im already there lol
I’m really good, one of the best. I can make cubes, and cones, and monkeys and stuff! And using new tools in Blender 2.44 I can even make a torus!
it was listed in the whole “CG HERO TELLS OF CRAIGS LIST”
if i remember correctly it was something like 20x more neuro surgents (i don’t know how to spell lol) then skilled 3d artists.
ON the Incredibles DVD commentary, the director makes the comment that there aren’t many GOOD CG animators out there to choose from.
I usually say to everyone im crap, not good and just cant model.
but looking at my models, i would say that im pretty good (not blowing my own trumpet here) obvisouly i can improve alot, but its taken me a while to get to this point and i feel that in another few months that i would be able to work in a studio along side other artists.
does anyone else feel the same inside?
dont be afraid to admit that you think your are pretty good at CG art
I’m… decent, at least at models for games. I’m far better at animating game models than I am at hi-res render models… fair bit less leeway, and the substantially higher polycount (I.E, more places for stuff to go badly) is something I’m still getting used to. (I didn’t think it’d be that big of a leap… boy was I wrong.)
I’m a fair bit off of major studio work… But from past freelance in a studio (Massive mess, they called in a ton of people to help until their actual people could get through customs since they were already +6 months behind.) ingenuity, and being able to duct tape and wire stuff together is just as important as your actual skill. No one likes high-maintenance artists.
gah, fine, if id REALLY take my time, i might be able to finish a demo reel, but im just to lazy do work at home, alone on some demo reel, ofcorse it would be alot of fun and all that jazz to work with another atists, but to get there you need a demo reel first, lol ![]()
Haha man i know exactly how you feel, ive started two reels and not one is finished, i start modeling a few models and they look pretty good, but then i think i can do better or i browse a forum nd think i need to do better! then i start a new mesh and the same happens. ahh it never ends!
hehe when people ask to see my work for jobs i just send them a zip with some image, some arent even finished
im one lazy…
lol
ahh… stealing the words from my mouth, eh? ![]()
though you know, what you(and me too there for) should do is just finish the darn models
you can try to do better later, but first should get something at all finished, no? ![]()
damit you got me thinking now ![]()
haha true man, we should.
but its finishing a model that i found hard, i get distracted towards the end.
but im going to try harder now
I am amazing. But at a cost. I never finish anything.
(nah, i’m barely half-decent, I just putz around a lot.)
I’m terrible… Really. Where one would have no need for an eraser because they make no mistakes…I have no erasers because I burn 'em all up
i think im resnoble at modaling. although i haven’t made anything big, mostly becose my comp maxis out at 150k polys lol
im terable at texturing, and anything else witch recwires 2d image editing. although i am getting better slowly. im rubbish at animating, but mostly becose i’ve never dun verry much:o
sorry about the spelling firefox dusent recognise those words:(
What you guys should try is doing 2 or 3 different models in “parallel”. At least for me it helps to model something for a few days for example and if I feel a bit weary after that I change the modelling subject and do it for some time. It keeps the interest alive when I don’t just force myself onward with one model. I also find new perspectives to the models when I get back to them after a while.
simaler to me, exept i normaly spend about a week on eatch modal
Well you guys have posted some interesting stuff on here and i know what you guys mean about the demo reels, every one that is into the cg wants one but the never get the best of there skill. Does any one know about college sponsors for being good at animating.
Strange post for someone who has never posted in the Animation Forum. I’m not trying to bust your chops but if you’re “good” I would have thought helping out there from time to time would also be “good”.
