How much is Blenderella?

Hello Everyone,

Just was looking around for Blenderella - where to buy, how much it costs, etc… but I came up somewhat dry.

Does anyone have a direct link to where to the product information and purchasing page?

Thanks all!

Dawg

It’s really not worth the price. Most of the instruction is timelapsed which makes the modeling of Blenderella hard to follow. My major issue is that the important modelling issues are skimmed over and not really explained.

The biggest plus is that you actually get references that are already setup for use in Blender and you get a fully modeled character to play around with.

The instruction that is left in is good. It’s that someone decided to take a whole bunch of tutorial video footage and fast forward through it instead of letting the person doing the tutorial explain her whole process.

I would skip buying this DVD and make a donation to the Blender Foundation instead: a much better use of your money.

If you want an excellent in-depth figure modeling tutorial go to blendercookie.com. Jonathan Williamson is doing one right now and he covers everything and has an excellent teaching style.

Hi Dawgwood,

Blenderella is a great buy. The author is a master of organic modeling and topology. As far as the time lapsed parts are concerned, you can always play those with the free VLC media player, which has the ability to speed up or slow down video as needed. Blendercookie’s tutorials are great as well.

Cheers.

I found it well worth the price as well. I always felt that the timelapses only covered steps that had been explained before. But then again, I’m not an experienced modeler, so maybe I just couldn’t see what I might have missed… if you know what I mean.

BTW and just FYI, DAZ is currently free, and comes with a fully modeled character called Genesis you can mess around with.

DAZ works a lot like make human, but - in my limited experience with both - DAZ works a lot better.

The only problem I’ve really experienced so far with DAZ is the character poses dont import - although everything else seems to import okay, including the armature.

I’ve already got DAZ and Genesis. But I prefer to model my own stuff.

If you have alot of money . I would not pay for a tutorial. You can find everything you need free. Modeling is the easy part.
