How Should I Make This Handle?

Hello, I’m making a sword, and I am not quite sure how I should go about making this handle. I want to make a cord wrap handle. Any tips?

Have you tried some thing like this and then just made to correct size. It’s the only way I can think of.

I’d use your image as a projected texture, then blend the stretched part with texture paint.

A simple way is to use a procedural texture w/ an optional displacement. Something like this…in Cycles or Eevee.
