I trying to figure out the GE ’ Damp’ setting.
From somewhere in this forum I was reading once, the ‘Damp’ setting presents a simplified aerodynamic drag. What this is meaning, I try to test out now.
The basic drag formula is
Drag = O.5 * velocity**2 * cross area towards to velocity * atmosphere density * coefficient of drag
It looks like the ‘Damp’ value is some sort of blur combine of cross area towards to velocity * atmosphere density * coefficient of drag…
The questions are:
- Is there any deeper documentation about ‘Damp’ settings?
- Is it possible the adjust the object ‘Damp’ value with AP/python?
The attached file compare the GE ‘Damp’ drag to the calculated drag.
