Hi im trying to figure out a way to get vines/ivy over grass like in this picture.
I have a method so far of just moving chunks of the ivy in edit mode but was wondering if there was a better method. An idea:
You could assign the grass a vertex group with everything fully assigned, and the ivy a seperate vertex group with nothing assigned.
Then, give the ivy object a Vertex Wieght Proximity modifier to transfer the grass’s wights to the ivy based on distance apart, the closer, the more wieghted.
Next in the stack, add a Displacement modifier to the ivy and use the Ivy vertex group to mask out the raised effect of the displacement modifier.
Hi i’ve been trying to do it the way you said but it doesn’t seem to be working.
Why not use animated splines for the dried straws? Check this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzeP---dP1M
How about cheating and use a simulated cloth? Drape it over your twigs and make an alpha map. It works for making spiderwebs quickly.
