How to achieve this semi complex shape?

Hi, i am making something for a game and am looking at some references to take some cool shapes from.

I’ve found this part of a spaceship that i want to recreate using a subsurface modifier, but some part have bad shading because i needed extra edge loops to make some parts sharper and so that i could bevel them. I’m not sure how i need to change the topology to create this.

Can’t i add a loop cut on top of the subsurf so that it does not mess up the smoothness?

Thanks a lot for the help!

What you should do is use the edge slide tool (double tap g) and make the support edge loops spread apart as they go away from the sharp area. You might also need to slide not just the support edges, but also some of the surrounding edges so the faces stay smooth and even.

I changed up several things …
1st… I rotated the model to x / y-orientation…you had it going Z…
2nd…I deleted several of your LOOPS and some of the edges…
3rd…I removed the Mean Crease and Bevel Weight to the translation between curved surfaces…
4th…Add a couple of support loops and slid a couple of edges away from the 90-degree edge…
I still don’t like the pinching at the corner but it’s not too bad…
