Sorry but tutorials on this topic just copy from one another and don’t actually show how they don’t work. And here is why:
Here is a simple cube with rounded edges I want to bake.
I bake the normals onto a regular, default cube consisting of 8 vertices. That’s how it looks in Unreal Engine 4. Everything’s fine, right?
No, it’s not.
This bug is even more apparent with a glossy material.
I tried baking with smaller ray distance, larger ray distance, smooth shading to flat shading, flat to smooth, flat to flat, smooth to smooth, using sharp edges, less margin, more margin, low poly inside high poly, outside high poly, in-between, everything. Nothing gives proper results and it’s the same since 2.7.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
