how to add a picture to a model

hi,
can some one guide me on how to add a picture onto a model? i’m using blender 2.6.2. The model is a plane, i would like to add a logo to it’s side or on the wing.

I think it would be a pretty good idea to watch some tuts about getting started with Blender, like Star Ranger4 said.
For this you can just go to the materials tab in the properties window, add a material, then klick on the textures tab, add a texture, set the type to image or movie and choose your image by clicking on “open”
