Hi,
I’m in the process of learning basic modeling, and I would like some tips on this subject.
I’m not sure if I’m doing things right currently. I start by making the basic shapes of a model, then adding details later. Now, as you can see in the picture below, when I need to add holes or other small details, I’m using loop cut and slide to add more geometry. The problem is, those loop cuts go around to the other side of the model, messing how subdivision surface bends curves and adding too much geometry where it isn’t needed.
Is there some clever way to add more geometry only locally, without messing the topology and preferably without creating any triangles or ngons?
