How to align objects made from curves?

Hello

I am trying to create a flattened football-shaped object. I started by drawing a Bezier curve in the shape of half a football and closing it. I extruded it and duplicated the resulting object. I expected to be able to align the two halves by using snap, but it didn’t work. I turned snap on, selected 'Vertex" and “Closest”, but nothing snapped.

Do objects made from extruded Bezier curves lack vertices? Is this why snap didn’t work?

thx

Convert your object from a curve to a mesh (Alt+C) and then you can use snapping or just use a mirror modifier

That worked, thank you very much.

Can you shed some light as to why I couldn’t align the object before converting to a mesh? I’m trying to understand how Blender works.

thx
