Is there a more updated way in 2.68 to bake the normals from a high poly sculpted mesh onto the lower res version? I found this tutorial from blendercookie here but the “Bake” menu is gone in my version of blender. Is baking normals even the correct way to go about this? Thanks!
I think you are in Blender Cycles Setup. Change back to Blender Internal and your Bake Options will be available.
If its a multires sculpt you can bake from the highest multires level to whatever your preview level is. In this way you don’t need 2 meshes. You just check bake from multires, and voila. And yes you need to switch to Blender Render to get that bake button. You also need to add an image texture within BI so there’s something to bake to.
