how to bump a mesh with UVface/image

i read a tutorial about this but i’m stuck
things i’ve done already:
-made mesh
-opened an image in uv image edior
-in 3d window changed to uv face select (i think i also selected mesh but what colour it should be when it is selected - white or pink?)
-pressed U-key and choose “from window”
-stucked here

the author of uv tutoial i read added a material and bump textures but nothing happend.


Add a Material and an Image type Texture and load the smae image you UVMapped from the Texture menu. In the MapTo tab set NOR on for the bump map, In the MapInput tab change the mapping from ORCO to UV and in the Material tab set TexFace on.
