how to change the color

After I get done with modeling my house how do I change the color? I want everything to be as close to it as possible from the carpet wood tile and wood grain around the door. Do I use blender to do this or should I use another program and try to import the colors in?

I got some wood grain around my door my qwestion is how do I get the wood grain in my blender file to look the same way as in the pic. Can I use blender or should I use another program and import it into blender?
